The Fit Out Project Engineer - Data Center Fit Out Build will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of the client/customer Fit Out requirements of a multi stage data center build. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, managing resources, and ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and budget. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in fit out project management and a deep understanding of IT infrastructure components such as data centers, network installations, and telecommunications systems. Managing contractors to the required quality, schedule and budget.

Responsibilities

• Project manage data center fit-out projects, working with a team of data center design subject matter experts to provide on-site support from project design to final handover.
• Manage client expectation and maintain status documents for client projects throughout the project re: scope, budget, billing, schedules and timeframes.
• Help develop RFI (Requests for Information) and RFP (Requests for Proposals) documents required for bid levelling, overseeing comparison and analysis process.
• Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
• Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring costs are kept within approved limits.
• Oversee all stages of the construction process, ensuring adherence to project specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and project requirements.
• Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, schedules, and progress reports.
• Ensure all project documentation is completed and archived according to company policies and industry standards.
• Exhibit leadership characteristics: strong communication skills, full understanding of project requirements, good decision making and drive to exceed client expectations.

Requirements and skills

• At least 4 years of proven experience of data center facilities design and build project management experience.
• Ability to manage client expectation and maintain status documents for client projects throughout the project re: scope, budget, billing, schedules and timeframes.
• Possess hands-on experience with data center design and deployment best practices - including a strong understanding of power distribution and/or structured cable design in the data center.
• Prior, recent experience successfully managing mid-size data center build-outs (at least 10 MW) / fit outs in colocation facilities is preferred.
• Good knowledge and understanding of Malaysia’s government code of practice is preferred.
• Experienced working in Malaysia is preferred.
• Prior experience working with local electrical and telecom fit out contractors.
• Prior experience working with local telecommunication authorities & carriers.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• PMP, CDCP or related Data Center Facilities Design certifications are a plus.
• Experience with BMS and CPOS setup is a plus
• Experience in MS Project, Primavera, Fulcrum will be advantageous.

Others

• Working hours from Monday through Friday 8:30am to 6:00pm at the site office in Johor, Malaysia.
• Other responsibilities as and when required by the manager.
• Ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required

Job Type: Contract

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: RM8,000.00 - RM15,000.00 per month
