About the Role

We are seeking an experienced HSSE Manager to lead and drive Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental initiatives across the chemical manufacturing plant and external project sites. The ideal candidate will develop robust HSSE strategies, ensure compliance with local and international regulations, and foster a strong safety culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic HSSE Management: Develop and implement HSSE policies, strategies, and programs aligned with company goals. Drive continuous improvement of HSSE management systems across all sites.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Malaysia’s OSHA Amendment 2022 and other relevant laws. Act as the main liaison with regulatory authorities (DOSH, DOE, CIDB, etc.).
  • Risk Management: Oversee risk assessments and implement corrective actions to mitigate operational risks. Integrate risk management practices into all activities.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis and preventive measures. Report HSSE activities to senior management.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans. Conduct regular drills to ensure readiness across all locations.
  • HSSE Audits & Inspections: Conduct compliance audits and inspections, identify improvement areas, and ensure corrective actions are implemented in line with ISO standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the HSSE team across multiple sites. Collaborate effectively with site teams, other departments, and external projects.
  • Safety Awareness & Campaigns: Drive HSSE campaigns and initiatives to promote a positive safety culture. Implement programs to encourage hazard identification.
  • Communication & Reporting: Maintain clear and transparent communication on HSSE matters across all levels. Prepare and submit comprehensive reports to management and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a similar HSSE role within chemical manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of Malaysia's OSH Acts, regulations, and HSSE standards.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage multi-site teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification as a Safety & Health Officer (SHO)/Greenbook under Malaysia OSH regulations.
